These documents were deposited with this office in 1989 as accessions 2989 and 2994 and in 1995 as accession 4040.
They relate to the Sammons family of North Oxford and seem to have been assembled by Mabel Beatrice Sammons (the 'Miss Sammons' of many of the documents). Mabel Sammons, the daughter of Arthur and Emily Sammons, was born on 18 August 1890 and baptised at Oxford St Barnabas church on 21 September 1890. For a time, the family lived at 27 Oakthorpe Road, but at some point after Emily Sammons' death in 1917 Miss Sammons and her father moved to 21 Islip Road. Miss Sammons married Benjamin Games (1878-1958) in 1938. She is last recorded at 21 Islip Road in Kelly's Directory of Oxford' for 1971 and died at Shoreham in Sussex in 1985.
This catalogue is divided into two sections: one relating to the family and the other relating to Miss Sammons' involvement with the proposal to create a new access to the Cutteslowe Estate by demolishing 21 Islip Road.
