Royal National Lifeboat Institution (Anglesey) Archive

Records, 1830 - 1878, of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution in Anglesey, comprising letters, financial records, accounts of assistance given to ships, and other material relating to lifeboats.

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution is a charity devoted to the protection of life at sea formed in 1824 as the National Institution for the Preservation of Life from Shipwreck. It took its present title in 1851. In Anglesey, the RNLI inherited the work of the Anglesey Lifesaving Association, which had been founded in 1828 by Rev. James Williams of Llanfair-yn-Nghornwy, Anglesey, and a number of lifeboat stations were established on the island, inclduing Penmon, Beaumaris, Moelfre, Llanddwyn (Niwbwrch), Bull Bay (Amlwch), and Holyhead.

Arranged into the following: letters; financial (bills and receipts; miscellaneous); accounts of assistance given to ships, and associated documents; and miscellaneous.
