Scope and Content

These papers relate to the governance, development and management of the Bletchley Park College (later Lady Spencer-Churchill College). They include minutes, agendas, reports, and correspondence.

The College was governed by a sub-committee of the County Education Committee, which was referred to at first as the Management Committee and, from September 1951, as Governing Body, and met several times a year. Records relating to these meetings can be found under O48/1/A1.

The College staff held regular meetings during which they discussed college matters and individual students. Records relating to these meetings can be found under O48/1/A2.

On occasion, Governing Body and staff meetings were attended by Her Majesty's Inspector (of the Ministry of Education). In 1957, the Inspector, Lady Helen Asquith, headed the first General Inspection of the College. Records relating to this inspection can be found under O48/1/A3.
