Cwmbwrla School originally opened in 1875 but closed again in 1877 pending the completion of a new school building. It reopened in June 1879. In 1948 the Boys Department ceased to exist and the building was vacated to make way for the Gendros Girls' School. The Boys were transferred to the Cwmbwrla Girls' Department to form the new Junior Mixed School. In 1982 the Infants and Juniors departments amalgamated to form Cwmbwrla Primary School. Cwmbwrla Primary School closed in July 2012 and merged with Manselton Primary School to form the new Burlais Primary School.
