Photographs

This series contains photographs, negatives, slides, postcards and some illustrations cut from publications relating to Madagascar. The materials have been retained in their original files. Most are grouped by photographer, the person who collected the materials, or the person who gave the materials to Hardyman. Other materials collected by Hardyman himself are often grouped by subject. The whole section has been organised into a chronological sequence. Users should bear in mind that some files cover wide date spans whilst others have quite specific dates. The descriptions of the files aim to give a rough indication of the subject matter of the photographs; often using notes made on the prints themselves.
