Scope and Content

These five deeds of grants of property in Hook Norton span over three centuries and are mainly linked by involving the (de) Charleton family, beginning with a land transfer by Henry de Oilley to John de Charleton and ending with the marriage settlement of Alice Charleton, daughter of John. The premises mentioned in the documents are similar in some cases, but the deeds do not obviously form a series.

The documents were purchased by a local organisation and deposited at Oxfordshire History Centre in November 2022, as accession 7026. Catalogued by Mark Priddey, July 2023.
