Administrative / Biographical History
The church of St Aidan was built in 1965 as a chapel of ease to Acomb parish, serving the new Chapelfields housing estate.
St Aidan and St Stephen's, Acomb later combined to become a two church parish.

This arrangement was designed to reflect the principal activities of the parish and its associated organisations, and to aid researchers in identifying the records these activities generate.
