Drawings in pen and wash by Bartholomew Howlett of seals of religious houses in Hampshire. Twenty-six drawings, separately mounted and surrounded by appliqué printed borders in brown. Many signed and dated. With MS notes giving the sources. Contents list by Mill Stephenson, FSA, fol. iv.

Acquisition Information

Owned by Sir Frederic Madden (annotations by him, cf. fol. 1). Lot 1820 in the sale of the library of Leonard Lawrie Hartley, Puttick and Simpson, 3-14 May 1886 (cutting, fol. iii). Franks bookplate, fol. i. Exhibited and presented by Sir A. W. Franks, PSA (with MSS/0369).
