William Cleland Neilson was born in Glasgow in 1908 and attended the University of Glasgow, Scotland, from1927-1933, taking classes in English, History, French, Scottish History and Literature, Moral Philosophy and Geography. He graduated MA in 1930 before going on to study Senior Honours English and British History between 1930-1933. It is unclear whether he received another qualification after these further years of study.William became a teacher and died c1980s.
Elizabeth Taylor Ogg Gemmell was born in 1914 and attended the University of Glasgow, Scotland from 1933-1936 , taking classes in Latin, French, Geology, English, Moral Philosophy, and Scottish History and Literature. She graduated with an MA in 1936 and became a teacher. Elizabeth went on to marry William Cleland Neilson, a fellow university graduate.
