Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Arthur Edward Meikle was born on 14 April 1910 in Glasgow, Scotland. He started at the University of Glasgow in 1929, studying English, Latin and Greek in his first year. He went on to study English (Higher), Moral Philosophy and British History for English Honours in his second year, Junior Honours English Language and Literature including Italian for Comparative Literature in his third year, and Senior Honours English Language and Literature in his fourth year. He graduated Master of Arts with Honours in 1933 and went on to a career in teaching. He died in the early 1990s.
