The Very Rev. Gwynfryn Richards (1902-1992), dean of Bangor, was born at Nantyffyllon, Glamorgan, in 1902. He was educated at the Universities of Wales, Oxford and Boston. He was ordained deacon in 1930, priest in 1931 and served in a large number of benefices before being appointed Canon of Bangor Cathedral in 1943. He served as Dean of Bangor from 1962 until 1971. He was Pantyfedwen Lecturer of the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth in 1967. He was the author of a large number of monographs and scholarly articles.
