COTTISFORD PARISH RECORDS

Scope and Content

Cottisford is a small village to the north-east of Oxfordshire. Since at least 1867, it has been held in plurality with Hardwick (PAR123), and therefore contains several records (including PCC minutes) relating to both parishes. In 1983, Cottisford, Hardwick with Tusmore, Finmere, Mixbury, Newton Purcell and Shelswell were united into one benefice. These have since been joined by Fringford, Godington, Hethe, Stoke Lyne and Stratton Audley to form the united benefice of Shelswell.

The records of the parish of Cottisford were deposited at the Bodleian in 1957 and 1978 and transferred to Oxfordshire Archives in the 1980s. Further deposits were made in Acc 2698 in July 1987, Acc 4055 in January 1996, Acc 4215 in March 1997, Acc 5917 in December 2009, Acc 6118 in August 2012 and Acc 6914 in November 2021.

Catalogued by Anna Riggs, July 1996, with additions by Robin Darwall-Smith in March 1997, Hannah Jones in December 2009 and Alison Smith in December 2012 and September 2022.
