Shenington is situated 30 miles north of Oxford. The parish was in the diocese of Gloucester 1541-1837, diocese of Worcester 1837-1900 and the diocese of Oxford since 1900. In 1900 it united with Alkerton to become Shenington and Alkerton.
The records were originally deposited in the Bodleian Library by Rev R Hannah, rector of Shenington and Alkerton in 1966, 1975 and 1977. The enclosure award was deposited by Shenington Parish Council in 1975. Further records were deposited by Rev REL Walker, priest-in-charge of Shenington in 1980. The material was then transferred to the Oxfordshire History Centre.
