Scope and Content

Bullingdon Highway Board was formed in 1864 to takeover the responsibility of maintaining the highways from the parish vestry. It was abolished in 1894 when the newly formed Headington (RDC7), Culham (RDC5) and Thame Rural District Councils (RDC11) took over this responsibility.

Bullingdon consists of the following places:

Albury, Ascot, Attington, Marsh Baldon, Toot Baldon, Beckley, Burcot, Chilworth, Chippinghurst, Chislehampton, Clifton Hampden, Church Cowley, Temple Cowley, Cuddesdon, Culham, Denton, Dorchester, Drayton St Leonard, Elsfield, Forest Hill, Garsington, Hampton Gay, Hampton Poyle, Headington, Holton, Horspath, Horton cum Studley, Iffley, Littlemore, Marston, Great Milton, Little Milton, Moreton, Noke, North Weston, Nuneham Courtenay, Priestend, Sandford on Thames, Shotover, Stadhampton, Stanton St John, Stowood, Studley, Tetsworth, Thame, Thomley, Tiddington, Waterperry, Waterstock, Woodeaton and Woodperry.

The records were deposited as part of Acc 1117 in February 1974 and and originally catalogued as H.B. V. Further records were deposited as Acc 6712 in October 2018 having previously been part of the Oxford City Archive. Recatalogued by Alison Smith in October 2018.
