Scope and Content

A card at the front records that the collection was made by Mrs G M Owen, formerly of Rhyl but now of Maelgwyn Road, Llandudno. However, as the contents of the box were donated to the Museum at various dates between 1988 and 1994, it is not clear whether the entire collection was made by Mrs Owen.

Much of the collection contains commonly seen postcard views but some are unusual and call for individual mention:

Ty Gwyn Road, Prospect Terrace and Black Gate, Llandudno, before the building of the Great Orme Railway;

Hillside Boarding School, previously Lansdown House Day School, 1930;

Thomas Barrow, chimney sweep, with his hand cart, c.1890;

portrait of Charles C Clarke, 1905;

portrait of I Brudewell [artiste?], c.1900;

portrait of Forbes Robertson, actor and manager, c.1880;

business card of Thomas Roberts, apartments at Marine Parade, Llandudno, c.1900;

Morrison's Llandudno Railway Guide, 1912;

railway ephemera from Llandudno Station Booking Office;

notebook of H T Davies of Cremlyn, Glan Conway, listing architectural plans copied for various clients and recording payments made, or not made, for his work, 1911-1916 [damaged by water but still largely legible].

Llandudno Museum ref.nos. enclosed in box.
