The material comprises:

  • (a) numbers 1-101, miscellaneous letters (March 1886-January 1909) to Marion Harry Spielmann from the painter William Powell Frith (1819-1909), mostly written from Ashenhurst, Sydenham Rise, London S.E. and 114 Clifton Hill, St. John's Wood, London N.W.; Spielmann has pencilled on number 101 (dated 5 January 1909): His last letter to me. He died 2 Nov. 1909, aged 90;
  • (b) number 102, letter from Frith to Percy E. Spielmann (26 November 1899);
  • (c) number 103, a note on Frith's portrait of Charles Dickens;
  • (d) number 104, a Christmas card from Frith (1907).
