Administrative / Biographical History

The Falkland Islands Dependencies covers the area opposite South America. Following on from work carried out during Operation Tabarin (1943-1945) the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey was designed to survey and administer this area. Bingham became the third commander of FIDS in 1945.
