Administrative / Biographical History

Walter, Colin and June Richards were the children of Lily May Richards, nee Haggar, and the grandchildren of pioneer Welsh film maker and showman William Haggar, whose early silent films are held in the National Screen and Sound Archive of Wales. In the early 1900s, William Haggar built and owned cinemas in Llanelli, Aberdare and Mountain Ash.

Walter Henry Richards (born 1917) was admitted to Cowbridge School from Mountain Ash Intermediate School in September 1929 and left in 1933. His older brother Colin was also at the school from 1927 to 1932.
