Administrative / Biographical History

This United States Sealing voyage from Stonington was under the general command of Benjamin Pendleton. Seven ships sailed to the South Shetland Islands. Frederick, Alabama Packet, Hero, Free Gift, Express, James Monroe and Essex. Pendleton captained the sloop Hero. This was one of many American sealing voyages to sail from the port of Stonington during the nineteenth century.
