Factory Inspectorate (Work-related) Documents

The series comprise official records and documents accumulated by Hird primarily during his time as a factory inspector. It also includes some documents relating to his time at the Board of Trade during the first World War when he was investigating trading with the enemy, and his period of semi-permanent during the early 1940s when he participate dint inquiries into the cotton industry. It does not include any of Hird's writings relating to industrial matters in general or those articles he wrote about factory inspection and the textile issues during his retirement.
