Bob Brown was employed by Scottish & Newcastle Breweries , Edinburgh, Scotland in the mid twentieth century. Scottish & Newcastle Breweries (Services) Ltd , (Company No SC065526) claims to trace its roots back to 1777 , when its first brewery was founded in Edinburgh by William Younger . The company became known as Scottish Courage by 1995 .
