Administrative / Biographical History

This school on Leger Way opened in September 1978 in the premises of the former Wheatley Hills High School for Boys [for the records of which see SR136], accommodating about 500 girls and boys mainly aged 9 to 13 years. The name of the school was changed to Wheatley Hills Middle School. Most of the school's pupils went on to attend Danum School and the two schools formed a 'pyramid' with Wheatley Middle School and Intake Middle School. During the years 1978-1980 the school housed both Middle School pupils and also pupils of the former High School. It closed in July 1997 on the abolition of middle schools in the Doncaster Metropolitan Borough.
