Isla Johnston was the daughter of Edmund Johnston and his wife Helen (nee Kendall). Edmund Johnston, owner of the Liverpool-based Johnston Line shipping company.
She lived at 'Bryn Mêl', Glyngarth, Anglesey and loved cars and boats, often racing in the latter, and filmed and photographed sailing and other local events.
She died aged 86 in 1984.
