Administrative / Biographical History

Capel Als Vestry (temporary school) later Stebonheath Council School was located in Llanelli. The school opened on 3 June 1912. It was built to accommodate children living in the area that would supply the new Stebonheath School once built. Most children came from the Market Street Schools and Park Street Boys School as well as some from the Bigyn Schools and the New Dock Schools. Stebonheath Council School for Mixed and Infants opened on 3 May 1915. On 5 September 1921 the Stebonheath Mixed School became three separate departments: Mixed, Infants and Central School for Girls. The school was disbanded on 31 March 1925 to establish a new Boys’ Central School.
