THIRD WORLD FIRST

Scope and Content

Third World First (often abbreviated to 3W1) was established in 1969 as a national movement to campaign against, and raise awareness of, world poverty, economic expolitation, and the violation of human rights. Thirs World First groups existed in universities and colleges across the UK, with administrative support being provided from regional offices in London, Oxford, Leeds and Newcastle. The group produced a selection of publications and briefings, co-ordinated lists of films, books, and other educational resources, organised a variety of conferences and day schools, and organised a range of regional and national campaigns. Third World First changed its name to 'People & Planet' in 1997.

These records were deposited as Accession 4199 in February 1997 and catalogued by Hannah Jones in August 2015.
