Administrative / Biographical History

Dyfed Rural Council was the successor of Carmarthenshire Community Council, aiming to make charities in the area more effective. The Dyfed Association of Voluntary Services was formed in 1982, when the function of Dyfed Rural Council were reviewed. The Council's activities included work related to individual charities, including Carmarthenshire Arts Society, and local history; it was also involved in producing a film about the Rev. Howell Elfed Lewis (1860-1953), an Independent minister, poet and hymn-writer, Coffa Elfed.
