Scope and Content

She expresses her concern that she has not heard from her family for a long time and fears that someone may be ill. She mentions her cousin Ann Gwynne who is in Boston. Ann’s sister, Elizabeth has died of cholera. Elizabeth was in charge of a home for destitute children, but now Ann runs the home. She is keen for Frances to join her in Boston, but Frances, who is currently looking after children, is keen to find a different position as a seamstress.
