Letter from Auchinleck at St James's Street, London, to Syed Maratib, Ali discussing Mr 'A' [Mr Athanassoglou] and his wishes for Qaidabad Carpets, along with the desire of Auchinleck and Mr 'A' to visit Pakistan if needed. Auchinleck enquires after the health of Maratib and his family and talks about being in touch with Zulfikan Bokham, Iftikan and Ayazud Din [grandchildren of Syed Maratib Ali] whom he describes as 'charming boys'. He explains why he couldn't get Ayazud Din into Wellington School and says that he hears that he has a place at Berkhampstead School and that Iftikan has 'made arrangements for himself at Cambridge'. He also apologises for his failed efforts to help Syed Maratib Ali in his 'first claims against the British Army'. Holograph.
