Scope and Content

The material comprises:

  • (a) Copy of the last Will and Testament of Jonathan Hatfield (d. 1784) of Leeds, Yorkshire, corn factor, 18 August 1784 (12 pp.);
  • (b) Inventory, in Italian, of the effects of Jonathan Hatfield, who died at Naples on 25 February 1840; taken on 12 March 1840 by Antonio Mellone, public notary, at the instance of Edward Cotterel, banker of Naples, executor (66 folios);
  • (c) English translation of the said Inventory (18 folios). See Axon, 1928, op. cit., under 'Hatfield';
