Administrative / Biographical History
The Glasgow University Natural History Society was founded in 1892 at the University of Glasgow , Scotland by a group of medical and science students with a particular interest in Natural History as a sub-section of the Glasgow University Science Association. The Society continued as an independent body when the Glasgow University Science Association was wound up. The object of the Society was the promotion of the study of Natural History by organising field excursions and demonstrations, usually with weekly excursions in the summer term and at least two demonstrations or lectures during the winter term. The Society ceased to function in 1894 .
