Stoke Lyne is a village to the north- east of Oxfordshire, a few miles to the north of Bicester. The parish also included the hamlet of Fewcott. Between 1855 and 1902, Stoke Lyne was united with Caversfield. In 1921 Fewcott was split off from Stoke Lyne to join Ardley, and then in 1933 Stoke Lyne itself was united with Ardley. In 1983, these parishes were united with Godington, Stratton Audley, Fringford and Hethe. All these parishes are now united with Cottisford, Finmere, Hardwick-cum-Tusmore, Mixbury, Newton Purcell and Shelswell to form the Shelswell Group Ministry.
The parish records of Stoke Lyne have had a complex history. Most of the records were originally deposited with the Bodleian Library in 1978, 1979 and 1980 before being transferred to Oxfordshire Archives in the 1980s. Three other collections were also originally deposited with the Bodleian Library, but then transferred here in 1953, 1959 and 1961, as parts of Accession Numbers 237, 358 and 393, and then incorporated into the collections "Misc. Dew", "Misc. Cor." and "Misc. Bod." Further documents were deposited in as Acc 5046 in September 2002, Acc 6116 in August 2012 and Acc 6921 in November 2021. There is a concordance of old and new references at the end of the catalogue.
