Glass Plate Negatives: Saunders-Roe factory, Beaumaris, Anglesey

Saunders Roe (or SARO) was based at Fryars, Beaumaris from the outbreak of WWII. It was involved in the innovative design and construction of aluminium bodies for buses, road tankers, various marine craft including motor torpedo boats, minesweepers and an early hydrofoil, Bras D'Or. In 1968, Saunders Roe and Cammell Laird became Laird (Anglesey) and continued on the Beaumaris site. The company was acquired by FAUN Municipal Vehicles Ltd. in 1996 and is now based in Llangefni, Anglesey.
