PHOTOGRAPHS: Mr J. Rice Roberts of Rhiwlas, Pentraeth.

Mr J. Rice Roberts of Rhiwlas, Pentraeth was most probably living at Tan-y-Graig Pentraeth in 1893. He then moved to Bay View and onto Rhiwlas in 1895. Prior to moving in he had renovated the house using stone brought by horse and cart from Traeth Bychan Quarry which he owned. He was a solicitor who graduated at Oxford. He practiced in Llangefni and sold the business to Mr Laurie. He was a good horseman, physically fit and the master of Anglesey Harriers 1890 - 1903. He used to ride to Llangefni to work with a scone in his pocket for lunch and often rode to Traeth Bychan to deal with quarry business. On occasion after heavy snow he would go to Llangefni on skates. He enjoyed smoking a pipe.
