Scope and Content

Research correspondence of Dr Clarence-Smith (CSAS) relating to his work on the history of Angola and the general boycott of São Tomé cocoa of 1909. As part of a correspondence with Rowntree's and Cadbury's from 1978 regarding access to archive material on the boycott held by the companies, Rowntree's sent Dr Clarence-Smith a copy of the minute of their Board's discussion and decision on the matter from 16 March 1909. A copied extract from a related minute (11,042) from the Directors' Conference Minute Book of 8 December 1914 is also included.
