Administrative / Biographical History
William Henry Jervis Wegg, b. 28 October 1876, d. 13 December 1940; was a barrister and author of ‘The Decline of Antwerp under Philip of Spain’ and ‘Richard pace: A Tudor Diplomat’. Following his death, drawings and paintings from Wegg’s collection were sold by Sotheby’s on 23 April 1941 and 28 May 1941.

Unknown ownership following their creation by Wegg. The notebooks were found amongst the Gallery's library books, they carry old National Gallery library shelfmarks.
