Scope and Content

CUTTING from the Holyhead Mail and Llandudno and Colwyn Bay herald concerning the winding-up order of the Dublin Steam Packet Co. The Company had ceased business in 1922 and sold all its ships. It was the oldest steam packet company in Ireland, formed in 1823, and had carried the mails between Holyhead and Dublin until the London, Midland and Scottish Co. secured the contract in 1920. After the loss of the mails the company sold its cargo fleet. Three of its passenger steamers were lost during the war, including "Leinster" and "Connaught".
