Ms letter with seal from Eliab Harvey to William Garvay, written from London and responding to an invitation to visit him at Chichester, together with a Mr Vaughan. An accompanying note in the hand of Professor Dobbin explains the relationship between Sir Eliab Harvey and the physician, William Harvey.

Administrative / Biographical History

Eliab Harvey was the nephew of William Harvey (1578 – 1657), an English physician who was the first to describe correctly and in exact detail the systemic circulation and properties of blood being pumped around the body by the heart.
