Scope and Content

These records were deposited with Oxfordshire Archives in May 1996 as Accession 4094. Aside from minute books of the Parish Council, the records include an large number of circulars concerning the creation of Parish Councils, and also Rural District Councils. There are also several papers concerning the first elections to Stoke Lyne Parish Council and Bicester Rural District Council, as well as some papers about the Council's dealings with with Bicester Poor Law Union. More unusually, the collection includes several Poor Law papers from the 18th and 19th centuries relating to the neighbouring parish of Caversfield. The presence of these papers is a mystery: there is no explanation here as to their presence, and the parishes of Caversfield and Stoke Lyne have never been united.

Catalogued by Robin Darwall-Smith in July 1996.
