This collection of mainly title deeds relate to the lodge and associated premises in Ramsden. The building was also known previously as 'The Gothic House' and later 'The Old Hall'. In the earliest documents listed here, the property is described as the farm house in Ramsden.
Between 1919 and 1937 the house was owned by Baron Sydney Olivier of the Colonial Office, a prominent member of the Fabian Society, who became Secretary of State for India. He was the uncle of Laurence Olivier. Biographical details about Sydney can be found in this archive.
The material was deposited in December 1993, as accession 3733.
