Scope and Content

South Stoke lies in the far south of Oxfordshire, close to the Berkshire border. Woodcote was a chapelry of South Stoke until 1846, and the parish was known as 'South Stoke cum Woodcote'. For post-1846 parish records for Woodcote see PAR296.

The majority of this collection was originally held at the Bodleian Library, before being transferred to Oxfordshire Archives in the early 1980s. Subsequent accessions were received in May 2007 (accession 5638) and January 2014 (accession 6243). The whole collection was recatalogued in April 2016 by Hannah Jones.

A concordance of old and new references is given at the end of the hard-copy catalogue.
