Records of Valley Rural District Council, 1891 - 1974, including minute books of Valley Rural Sanitary Authority, 1891 - 1904; minute books of the Council, 1905 - 1974; minute books of committees, 1910 - 1954; records of the Holyhead and Rhosneigr Parochial Committees, 1900 - 1952; ledger of Valley Rural Sanitary Authority, 1891 - 1906, and Valley RDC, 1892 - 1969; Treasurers' accounts, 1927 - 1955; valuation lists of parishes, 1921, 1929 - 1973; rate account books for parishes, 1911 - 1971; water rents books, 1932 - 1955; records of wages, 1914 - 1961; general rate books, 1971 - 1973; Chief Financial Officer's cash accounts, 1947 - 1960; account books and other financial records, 1926 - 1968; registers of billets and check records relating to evacuees, 1940 - 1943; and papers relating to local issues, 1903 - 1973, including: housing, 1913 - 1938; Towyn Llyn Common, 1925 - 1949; Ty Groes camp, 1968 - 1973; and sand dune conservation, 1969 - 1970.

Administrative / Biographical History

Valley Rural District Council (RDC), Anglesey, was established in 1894 as the successor to Valley Rural Sanitary Authority. RDCs could be administered by a number of committees and by appointed officers including a Clerk, Treasurer, Medical Officer of Health, Surveyor and Sanitary Inspector. Valley RDC included most of the western part of the county (Aberffraw, Bodedern, Bodwrog, Ceirchiog, Cerrigceinwen, Henegwlys, Llanddeusant, Llandrygan, Llanfaelog, Llanfaethlu, Llanfair yn Neubwll, Llanfwrog, Llangwyfan, Llanfihangel-yn-Nhowyn, Llanllibio, Llanrhuddlad, Llantrisant, Llanyngenedl, Llechylched, Rhoscolyn and Trewalchmai). Valley RDC was abolished in 1974.
