7854/6/1 DIARIES OF MARGARET MASSINGBERD, 1893-1895
The three diaries of Margaret Massingberd did not form part of the original archive. They were given by the writer Anthony Curtis to David Taylor who placed them with the archive. Curtis used the diaries, together with one belonging to her sister in law Mildred Massingberd in 'Margaret Lushington and the Stephens', The Charleston Magazine, no. 17, Spring/Summer 1998, and in 'Before Bloomsbury. The 1890s Diaries of Three Kensington Ladies. Margaret Lushington, Stella Duckworth and Mildred Massingberd', The Eighteen Nineties Society, 2002. Mildred Massingberd's 1895 diary has been placed in this section of the archive.

Charlotte Mildred Massingberd (1868-1940). Married Charles Darwin's son Leonard in 1900. For letters from her to Susan Lushington see 7854/4/11/2/-.

Administrative / Biographical History

Margaret Lushington was born in 1869. She was the daughter of Jane and Vernon Lushington. In 1895 she married Stephen Massingberd of Gunby Hall, Lincolnshire. She died in 1906.
