Scope and Content

This meeting was established in 1668 and was originally part of the Vale of White Horse Monthly Meeting. When Vale MM was dissolved in 1791 Abingdon went to Warborough MM and not to Witney MM as did the other local meetings. Warborough was united with Reading MM in 1810 but Abingdon was transferred to Witney MM about 1894.

Abingdon was re-established as a Recognised Meeting in 1977, and became a Preparative Meeting in 1980.
