These papers include overseers' accounts, removal orders, settlement certificates, bastardy papers, bills, correspondence, valuations of property and Poor Rate Assessment books. These papers include many items concerning Milton-under-Wychwood, which was part of the parish of Shipton in 1853, although Milton did have its own overseers.
Unfortunately, the Milton Poor Law records (i.e. A2-A3, A5-A8, A10-A12, A14, A16, F3, F5 and PL2) arrived at Oxfordshire Archives in a very poor state. Although they have since been repaired and are thus available for use, many of them have lost parts of their texts. Attention is drawn to the most damaged items below.
