The file also contains several pages of manuscript notes on the story; an article, cut from an unidentified magazine, on Charles Rolls entitled 'The Forgotten 'R' in Rolls-Royce'; an article from 'Flight International', 23 January 1964, entitled 'Lilian Bland and the Mayfly'; a cutting from an unidentified newspaper on the flight of a rebuilt Bleriot aircraft in the 1960s; a small quantity of correspondence relating to research undertaken for the book, including letters from The Shuttleworth Collection and Kingston upon Thames Borough Library; and an incomplete manuscript draft of a letter from Kathleen Peyton to 'Mabel' [Mabel George, the book's editor at Oxford University Press], expressing concerns that the book is too 'gloomy'.
'The Edge of the Cloud' is the second book in K.M. Peyton's 'Flambards' series, and won the 1969 Carnegie Medal.
