Administrative / Biographical History

The correspondence relates to the parish of Brinton. Two of Scott's brothers-in-law were rectors of the parish. In 1949 a Scott Sunday was celebrated in April of each year. The parish church contains a stain glass window commemorating Scott and the pole party whom perished during the return journey from the South Pole in 1912 (British Antarctic Expedition 1910-1913).

Reginald Pound undertook research in to Scott's life for his book Scott of the Antarctic published in 1966.
