Scope and Content

Forty-one letters from Walter Savage Landor to various correspondents:

  • (a) numbers 1-6, his mother Elizabeth, née Savage (1811-28);
  • (b) numbers 7-28, his sisters Elizabeth and Ellen (1825-34);
  • (c) numbers 29-31, his brother Henry (1802-5);
  • (d) numbers 32-40, his friend the Reverend Walter Birch (1805-23);
  • (e) number 41, John Forster (1864);
Number 42 is a letter to Landor from his brother Robert Eyres Landor, dissuading him from his plan of becoming a citizen of France (1812).
