Scope and Content

Part 2 of the volume includes alphabetically arranged inventories of the following civil parishes of the administrative county of Merioneth: Llanfair; Llanfihangel y Pennant; Llanfihangel y Traethau; Llanfor; Llanfrothen; Llangar; Llangelynin; Llangower; Llansantffraid Glyn Dyfrdwy; Llanuwchllyn; Llanycil; Llanymawddwy; Maentwrog; Mallwyd; Pennal; Penrhyndeudraeth; Talsarnau; Talyllyn; Towyn; Trawsfynydd. Many of the entries are complemented with illustrations, such as photographs or engravings. Also included within part 2 are various papers: manuscript and typescript notes, correspondence, newspaper cuttings, photographs, drawings and postcards relating to the descriptions in the volume. At the end of part 2 is an index to the entire Inventory of Ancient Monuments of Merionethshire. There are also 151 figures, covering several pages, with each one relating to a different entry in the volume. Finally, there are three maps, labelled: 'Prehistoric,' 'Earthworks' and 'Finds,' which describe the locations of all the forts, earthworks and monuments mentioned in the volume.
