Records of Stoddard International plc, Design Archive, Traditional Persians Flowing

This material is held atUniversity of Glasgow Archive Services

Scope and Content

A selection of medium and large sized design sketches and design patterns from the 20th century featuring mainly floral Persian patterns and motifs. The majority are based around dark blue and red backgrounds, though a few feature very bright, vivid colours. There are designs by, amongst others, Mayers & Woodhouse, Kidderminster and one or two consist of several pieces of paper. Most items feature design names and numbers. A few of the designs also feature pattern numbers in the form of 2 or 3 letters (eg. 'LEC' or similar), and as such, can potentially be cross-referenced with two design studio record books titled 'Letter Books' (Catalogue reference: STOD/201/8/5/1-2), often revealing further information such as dates and designers.
