Scope and Content

Deeds and related documents primarily for the various land and premises making up the plot at 13-18 Queen Street, Oxford, where Marks and Spencer has been located since 1978. Parts of the premises were formerly occupied by the The Dolphin (later Prince Albert) pub, and notably by the Electra Cinema from 1911 to 1958, to which much of the material relates. The Co-operative Society occupied the former cinema premises until the buildings were demolished and replaced by a Marks and Spencer store in the 1970s.

The records were deposited in 1978 as accession 1489.

Formerly catalogued under reference M and S. and recatalogued by Katherine Kinrade and Becky Hogben in November 2021.
